Lots of users complain that their Sims 3 keeps crashing while launching or during the middle of the game. If you’re seeing crashes caused when you either load up this game, or when you are playing on it, then there are a number of possible problems which will be causing the issue to occur. This tutorial is going to show you how to fix the crashes by repairing the various errors that commonly cause them.

Why Sims 3 Crashes

There are numbers of reasons why Sim 3 crashes. Sims 3 will typically crash for these following reasons:

  • Registry errors on your PC
  • Outdated graphics drivers
  • Windows settings problems
  • Not enough space on your hard drive
  • Windows is outdated or has some errors

The best way to “DIY”-fix the Sims 3 crahes on your system is to basically look through all the possible causes of crashes and resolve them one-by-one.

How To Stop Sims 3 From Crashing

Step 1. Reinstall The Sims 3
The first step to resolving this problem is to re-install the Sims 3 program on your system. This can be done by clicking onto “Control Panel” of your PC and then removing the Sims 3 listing that you will have on there. To do this, you should click onto “Start -> Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs” and then remove the Sims 3 listing. After the uninstall is complete, restart your system and then re-install the game with a fresh copy. This should repair any of the possible corrupted files / settings that the game had on your computer.

Step 2. Update Your Graphics Driver
If the problem still exists, you need to update your graphics driver by obtaining an update from the manufacturer’s website, or go inside your “Device Manager” console and upgrade your device from there. To ensure that the problem is not caused by an outdated Windows version, you need to get the latest fixes from the Microsoft website by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update and follow the update wizard. You need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. If the Sims 3 game is still crashing, you need to clean out your registry to remove the errors.

Step 3. Clean Out The Windows Registry
The registry is where The Sims 3 will keep all the settings that it needs to “remember” each time it loads, such as your family’s name and even what street your Sims live on. It’s often the case that the registry will become damaged & corrupted – leading to a large number of problems to show. So the best way to fix this problem in the most effective & reliable way is to download a registry cleaner and then let it scan through your PC. Not many people know this, but the “registry” of your PC is one of the biggest causes of problems for Windows systems, as it’s continually being used by all your software to help your computer run. Sims 3 crashing is so complicated & advanced that any corrupt setting inside the registry could cause it to crash, making it recommended you fix the problem by using Advanced PC Tweaker to scan through your PC.
